Chast hesitates a moment more... then stops growling and nods to Tala. "I'm sorry Poppy. You're my sister. I don't want to hurt you. It's just... I've never done very well in packs, and now I have Tala and the pups to think about." Tala comes back over to him and looks uncertainly at Poppy. She hadn't had good luck with packs either, had even been reduced to practically begging for her food and for a mate before she met Chast. She had no desire to kill Chast's sister, but neither did she want any threats to this safety she just found.

Poppy lets out her breath, relieved that there was no battle.
"You're my brother, Chast. You'll allways be welcome in the Rising Moon Pack. You and Tala and all your descendents. Come on, let's go back to the dens. We can pretend that this never happened."

Chast wags his tail and follows behind Poppy for a few steps, but then Tala rubs up beside him and whimpers. "Chast..." she whispers, but then she doesn't say anything else. He comforts her with a nuzzle then bounds off after Poppy.

Tala doesn't respond, just looks at Chast for his permission for her to eat. He nods to her then turns to Poppy. "About a month and a half."

After they finish eating, Chast and Tala go off towards the thicker part of the forest. Tala looks for somewhere sheltered and safe, while Chast sniffs for threats and prey. The den they finally choose is well hidden and the area near by is popular with deer.
